California Proposition 65 Notice

You may notice a reference to California's Proposition 65 on Aldermiller's website or packaging. We want to help you understand what this means and why it's here.

What Is Proposition 65?

California's Proposition 65, formally the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, requires businesses to warn California consumers about exposure to certain chemicals that may contribute to cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. California maintains a list of these chemicals, updated annually, which you can view in full at the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA): oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65.

Why This Applies to Some Aldermiller Products

Certain Aldermiller eyewear uses polycarbonate lenses — a durable, impact-resistant material recommended for most prescriptions, active lifestyles, and children's eyewear (see our Lens Guide for details). Polycarbonate lenses contain trace amounts of Bisphenol A (BPA), a starting material used in their manufacturing process. BPA is also commonly found in many everyday consumer goods, including water bottles and food and beverage packaging.

This notice reflects standard practice across the eyewear industry for polycarbonate-based products—it is not specific to Aldermiller or a sign of an unusual risk with our lenses.

A Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is unsafe or violates any product safety standard. It's California's way of ensuring consumers have information available to make their own informed choices.
