Using Your Vision Insurance at Aldermiller
We are not in-network with VSP or EyeMed. That said, most vision insurance plans include an out-of-network (OON) benefit — meaning your insurer will still reimburse you for glasses purchased anywhere, including Aldermiller.
Most customers get back between $30 and $350, depending on their plan.

Do you have an FSA or HSA card?
Great news — use it at checkout today. No paperwork. No waiting. Your FSA or HSA debit card works just like a regular credit card at checkout. Prescription eyewear is a qualified medical expense under IRS rules.
Before your benefit year ends (most FSA plans reset December 31), make sure you use your balance. HSA funds never expire.

How Out-of-Network Reimbursement Works
Step 1 — Place your Aldermiller order and pay at checkout.
Step 2 — You will receive an itemized receipt in your order confirmation email. It shows your frame cost, lens type, and each lens enhancement listed separately — exactly the format most insurers need.
Step 3 — Download your insurer's out-of-network claim form from their member portal (links are below for every major carrier).
Step 4 — Attach your Aldermiller receipt to the form and submit online or by mail. Most insurers process claims within 10–30 days and send a reimbursement check or direct deposit.
Not sure what your OON benefit is? Call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card and ask: "What is my out-of-network reimbursement for prescription eyeglasses?"

Also covers Regence BlueCross BlueShield vision plans and MetLife VSP plans.
Typical reimbursement: $35–$120 (single vision lenses ~$35 · progressive lenses ~$105 · contacts ~$110)
IMPORTANT FOR WASHINGTON STATE CUSTOMERS: VSP individual plans purchased directly through VSP (vspdirect.com) do not include out-of-network reimbursement in Washington State. If your VSP coverage came through your employer, OON benefits may still apply — check with your HR department before ordering.

Typical reimbursement: Varies by your employer plan — check the Benefit Details page in your Premera account.
Premera administers vision benefits directly (not through VSP), so your claim goes straight to Premera.
How to file your claim:
1. Sign in at premera.com
2. Go to My Benefits → Vision → Submit a Claim
3. Upload your Aldermiller receipt. Select "Out-of-Network Provider."

1. Log in at myuhcvision.com using your HealthSafe ID (HSID)
2. Go to Claims → Submit Out-of-Network Claim
3. Upload your Aldermiller receipt and include your name and date of birth

Important: submit your frame and lens receipts together in one envelope — not separately.

Kaiser Permanente
Kaiser Permanente does not offer out-of-network vision reimbursement. Their vision hardware benefit is restricted to Kaiser's own internal optical centers.
If you have Kaiser, we recommend using your FSA or HSA card at checkout — prescription eyewear is always a qualified expense, regardless of your insurance carrier.

What Your Aldermiller Receipt Includes
Your order confirmation email contains a fully itemized receipt showing:
• Frame — item name and price
• Lens type — single vision, bifocal, or progressive — with price
• Each lens enhancement — anti-reflective coating, UV protection, photochromic, blue light filter — each listed separately with price
• Order date, your name, and our business information
This format is what most insurers require for OON claims. If your insurer needs a different format or additional information, email us at hello@aldermiller.com with your order number and we will generate a custom receipt within one business day.

3 Tips to Maximize Your Reimbursement
1. Call before you order. Ask your insurer: "What is my out-of-network reimbursement for prescription eyeglasses?" Know your exact amount in advance.
2. Order before December 31. Most vision plans reset annually. Unused allowances do not roll over — if you have a benefit year ending soon, use it.
3. Submit all receipts together. Many insurers (especially UHC) require frames and lenses in a single claim submission. Don't split them into separate claims.
